Masashi Odate
Masashi Odate is a descendant of the samurai tradition and a lifelong martial artist devoted to preserving and sharing the spirit, discipline, and philosophy of Japan’s classical warrior arts.
He dedicated himself to rigorous martial training rooted in traditional Japanese values of respect, humility, self-discipline, and continuous refinement. His life was deeply influenced by Otake Nobutoshi Sensei, a highly respected master known not only for his extraordinary skill as a swordsman, but also for his warmth, compassion, and dedication to his students and tradition.
Through years of disciplined training, Masashi Odate earned the level of Menkyo/Shihandai, reflecting advanced skill, deep understanding, and leadership within the tradition. Today, he is dedicated to preserving and passing on authentic Japanese martial culture through disciplined training, character development, and the timeless spirit of Bushidō, while carrying forward the heart and teachings of the respected Otake Nobutoshi Sensei and preserving the true essence of Katori Shintō-ryū for future generations.
